Submissions

We welcome submissions of original scholarship on all areas of law and public policy.

What We Publish

The Open Journal of Law & Policy publishes the following types of work:

  • Articles — Original scholarly works of 15,000–30,000 words that make a significant contribution to legal scholarship.
  • Essays — Shorter analytical pieces of 5,000–15,000 words that engage with timely legal questions.
  • Notes — Student-authored pieces of 10,000–20,000 words that offer original analysis of legal issues.
  • Comments — Responses to previously published work or analysis of recent cases and developments.
  • Book Reviews — Critical assessments of recently published books of 3,000–8,000 words.

How to Submit

We accept submissions through our online submission portal. Create an account to submit your manuscript and track its progress through the review process.

Our submission portal allows you to upload your manuscript, track the status of your submission, and communicate with editors throughout the review process.

For blog submissions, please email your proposal or completed draft to blog@ojlp.org.

Formatting Guidelines

  • Manuscripts should be submitted in Microsoft Word format (.docx).
  • All citations should conform to OSCOLA or any other internationally accepted citation style.
  • Manuscripts should be double-spaced with one-inch margins.
  • Please include an abstract of 150–250 words.
  • Submissions must be anonymized for peer review. Remove all identifying information from the manuscript.
  • Include a separate cover page with the title, author name(s), institutional affiliation(s), and contact information.

Policies

Simultaneous Submissions: We accept simultaneous submissions but ask that you notify us immediately if your piece is accepted elsewhere.

Review Timeline: We aim to provide an initial response within 4–6 weeks of submission. Peer review may take an additional 4–8 weeks.

Open Access: All published work in OJLP is freely available under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0).

Article Processing Charge: A nominal article processing charge (APC) may apply to accepted manuscripts to support the costs of open-access publication. Details are communicated to authors upon acceptance.
