Mission

Rigorous scholarship, open to all.

The Open Journal of Law & Policy (OJLP) is a peer-reviewed academic journal publishing outstanding scholarship at the intersection of law and public policy. We are committed to fostering rigorous intellectual inquiry, promoting diverse perspectives, and advancing the understanding of how law shapes — and is shaped by — society.

Founded with a commitment to open access, OJLP makes high-quality legal scholarship freely available to scholars, practitioners, policymakers, and the broader public. We publish articles, essays, notes, comments, and book reviews engaging with pressing legal and policy questions across all areas of law.

Our Commons features timely commentary on developments in law and policy, providing a platform for informed analysis of current events and emerging legal trends.

Ethics

Publication Ethics & Standards

OJLP is committed to the highest standards of publication ethics. All submissions undergo double-blind peer review conducted by independent scholars with relevant expertise. Editorial decisions are made solely on the basis of scholarly merit, originality, and relevance to the journal’s scope.

Integrity. Authors are expected to submit original, previously unpublished work. Plagiarism, data fabrication, and undisclosed conflicts of interest are grounds for immediate rejection or, where discovered post-publication, retraction in accordance with COPE guidelines.

Independence. Editors and reviewers must disclose any relationship with a submitted manuscript that could compromise impartiality. Conflicted editors are excluded from the relevant decision-making process.

Transparency. Authors are required to disclose all funding sources and any institutional or personal interests that could be perceived as influencing the findings or conclusions of their work.

Corrections & Retractions. OJLP will promptly issue corrections, expressions of concern, or retractions where errors, misconduct, or other significant problems with published work are established. Retracted articles remain accessible with a clear retraction notice.

Our editorial practices follow the guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).
